"Yeah, you're right. We'll see if this guy knows what he's talking about or if it's just a lot of exhaust fuel. We'll head there tomorrow." For tonight, he'd make sure the ship stayed toasty while they slept. Usually, he let the little one sleep in his own bed, but tonight he figured it might be better for them to be together to keep warm.
"Oh, that reminds me. I got you something." He'd picked it up while his son had been busy and distracted in one of the shops. He picks it up out of one of the bags he'd brought back with them. It's a little stuffed bantha, just the soft sort of thing that a child would like to play with. He holds it out to the child. "Do you like it?"
The Baby continues to watch him, head tilted to one side as he continues to talk. The chest plate of Dad's armour isn't comfortable, but he remains pressed against it in the closest thing he can offer to a hug with his little self.
He makes a small chirp of question and a smile comes to his face when he sees the small, soft toy. He grabs it with both hands and lets out a squeak of contentment and happiness, big ears flopping when he nods.
"Hmmm, I don't think you do. Maybe I'll take it back..." He pretends to pull it away in a playful manner, only giving it back when the little one gives an indignant chirp and reaches for it again. "...Nah. You can hold onto it."
He picks his son up and takes him back to the area Din has reserved for sleeping in his ship. It's a small bunk, and frankly, the small area he's set aside for the little one to sleep in is larger for his small size, but he doesn't want him to get cold tonight. He does seem to be based off a vaguely reptilian species after all.
The Baby lets out a noise of protest when his dad pulls the toy away and he smiles again when it's handed back to him. He wraps his little arms around it and squeezes it, looking up at his dad with a happy expression on his face.
He makes himself comfortable on the bed, near the wall and where he can flop back onto the pillow at the head of the bed and waits for dad to join him so they can sleep. There's a big yawn and he flops back, stuff bantha held against him.
Din checks the ship one last time, making sure the life support systems and that the weapons are all working properly. He’s going to make sure he’s not caught with his pants down if they get attacked in the middle of the night.
After that is done, he goes to lie down with his son, taking off most of the armor to exchange it for warm clothes. He gets into the bed and looks down at the little alien that he’s come to view as his own family and his heart swells with tenderness. He runs a hand over the big ears one more time and whispers: “I love you. Good night.” Then the lights are turned out and he falls asleep quickly hearing the heartbeat of his son and knowing the little form is safe next to him.
