The Mandalorian eats quickly, not just because he's hungry. He's learned enough about his son to know that leaving him alone for too long will only spell trouble in the end. He puts his helmet back on and then goes off to find him. When he finds him in the front console, it looks like he's ready to start pushing buttons.

"C'mere, you little womp rat," Mando says with no small part of affection. He picks him and then sets him on his lap as he sits down, pulling up the navigational charts as he goes. "We can stay here for a few days, but where do you think we should go to next?" He doesn't know why he talks to the little one so much. It's not like he ever gets an answer back. Maybe he's hoping if he does it enough, he might just get the alien talking. It'd be nice to get some back-and-forth conversation going on instead of always having it be one-sided.
